So Glad We’re Friends – a new In Colour Experiment

IMG_6407

I really like the new Stampin’ Up In Colours –  however, each year when the new ones come out, I have a hard time incorporating them into the regular colours. So, what do I do? I punch out shapes of each new In Colour and leave them on my desk. Then, when I’m crafting away, scraps of what I’m working with always fall close by and I find new combinations that I think will work. I keep them out and then try them. This the first of three I’ve got going on my desk right now….

For this project, I was inspired by the SCS Featured Stamper Challenge. This card by Kelly was my inspiration as well the Our Creative Corner challenge was to use a image that was pet related so I decided to combine the two!

I started with a base layer of Sahara Sand (this card is 5″ x 5″). I then layered it with Basic Black and then Soft Suede. I textured the Soft Suede layer and sponged the outer edges.

One of the panels is Basic Gray layered on Basic Black. This layer was stamped with the fire hydrant from Man’s Best Friend in Basic Gray.

The other panel has a dog from Man’s Best Friend embossed in black. I used my Versamarker to give shadow under the little puppy and sponged all the edges as well as added a little spiral punch to one corner. On the other side, I faux stitched a zig zag.

For the sentiment, I used black grosgrain ribbon to tie on a piece of Styled silver hodgepodge. Inside, there is a black designer label punch out layered with a Soft Suede 3/4″ circle and a modern label punch out in Sahara Sand. I added two brads to the card as well – just cause.

Thanks for stopping by! Watch for more great new colour experiments as well as some of my Convention 2009 swap plans!

Not just good, but great!

I love the new set Golden Oldies from the new Occasions Mini Catalogue. It is just so much fun! For today’s card, I was inspired by the challenge on Our Creative Corner. What a great sketch!

So, I knew I wanted to use this awesome dude but I really wanted to use my Pink Flamingo DSP – what was I going to do?

I started with a Chocolate Chip card base and layered it with Creamy Caramel. I then added a piece of Pink Flamingo DSP, the one with the large Summer Sun flowers. I just LOVE it!

Then, according to the sketch, I started on the vertical panel. I stamped the image from Golden Oldies in Jet Black StazOn and watercoloured most of him. I stamped him again on the smaller flower paper from the Pink Flamingo DSP pack and cut it out so he has a hawaiian shirt – fun huh?

I cut out a large Chocolate Chip circle using my Scissor Circle Plus cutter and faux stitched around it with my white gel pen.

One set that I really like with Golden Oldies is Smarty Pants. I stamped a saying from that set in Chocolate Chip on some Confetti White cardstock and layered it on some Creamy Caramel.

The flower is embossed with white embossing powder and is from Fifth Avenue Floral. In the centre, I added a build a brad with a piece of the same paper that I used on the shirt.

So, not your typical card as it is masculine with flowers but I think it is pretty darn cool!

Thanks for stopping by today!
