It’s Ornamental
This week the challenge at Create with Connie and Mary, there is a great colour challenge! I love colour challenges! This week, the challenge is to use the colours you see in this photo:
So, I decided I’d go with something floral as that is what I really was drawn to doing from both the photo and the colours. The base is So Saffron and I made a long panel on the right with Old Olive and Confetti White cardstock. To the bottom I added a little piece of Pink Pirouette which I’d textured with my Sizzix Big Shot and Texture Plates.
Above this panel, I wanted to add a vase of flowers but have no vase stamps so I used my Tree Trimmings stamp set and stamped one on some scrap cardstock in Basic Gray ink. I then cut off the top and bottom and added a little bottom of Basic Gray cardstock. For a little extra bling, I added a flat pearl to the top of the vase.
For the flowers, I used the Boho Blossoms punch and punched out a bunch in Real Red. I then used my Itty Bitty Punch Bundle and made centres out of Pink Pirouette. I watercoloured some So Saffron in behind the vase for a little back light.
To finish off, I added a strip of 5/8″ Real Red grosgrain and a saying which was stamped on Confetti white cardstock in Basic Gray ink and then sponged with Pink Pirouette and layered on Old Olive.
So, head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and join in the fun!

“Can” we be Friends?
Okay, I know, I know – what a silly title! But fun!
This week, Create with Connie and Mary has a sketch challenge for you all to try! It is a great one and has so many design options.
For this card, I wanted to use some of the new In Colours and I paired them with some tried and true neutrals.
The base of this card is Sahara Sand and all panels and shapes are backed with Basic Gray. The long vertical panel is just layered with Whisper White cardstock and I tied some linen thread around it and added three little Jewelry Tags stamped with various words and images from Tiny Tags.
The layer in the background is again Basic Gray layered with Poppy Parade. I made this layer into a pocket of sorts and inserted a small tag with a saying from Hope Happens and a cut out flower from A Flower for All Seasons in Peach Parfait.
Next, I stamped the little frog and watering can from A Flower for All Seasons in Jet Black StazOn and watercoloured him in using coordinating ink colours. I then punched it out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.
Lastly, I added two Bitty Buttons (hearts) through which I tied very thin strips of coordinating cardstock.
I’m sure I’ll be trying this sketch again this week so watch for it! Now get on over there and create!

Happy Hybrid 4th of July
I am so thrilled to announce I have been chosen as a Design Team Member for Create with Connie and Mary! Yeah! I am so thrilled an honoured to have been chosen and here is my very first project for them – a 4th of July project!
Now here in Canada we don’t celebrate the 4th of July, however, I do live right on the border of Washington State and overlook the bay between White Rock and Semiahmoo so I have the privilege of watching the fireworks on the 4th. So that was the starting point of my card – fireworks.
That said, I have no fireworks stamps so I used the snowflakes from Snow Swirled – I think they make beautiful fireworks.
The size of this card is 3″ x 6″. The base is Tempting Turquoise and it is layered with Pacific Point and then Whisper White. The fireworks were stamped in Versamark and then heated with Heat and Stick powder. I then sprinkled them with Cosmo Fine Glitter and heated again.
Where do you watch fireworks? Most people watch them outside on a beautiful hill. So, I used Old Olive cardstock to make a hill and added a cute little girl with a balloon from All in the Family.
For the bottom tag, I realized that I had no stamps that would suit this occasion so I decided to use My Digital Studio to make my tag. It was so much fun! I mixed various designs from Calendar Basics in coordinating colours and printed it out. I then punched it out with my Wide Oval punch and adhered it to a Pacific Point tag cut out from the Lots of Tag Sizzlets.
A few little brads and voila! Happy 4th all my American Friends! Now make sure you head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and participate in this super fun challenge!
