Peaceful Winter – Almost Artisan Card #5

Well, this is it (I think), the last of my non-Artisan Award winning cards. I do have one more 3D project to show, it is my favourite and most creative, I think!

Anyways, this card is a 5×5 square card and I wanted to do a soft and serene winter card but using a monochromatic colour palette.

The base is Whisper White and I’ve layered it with Basic Gray cardstock, then another layer of Whisper White and then a piece of Nouveau Chic (retired) designer paper. Not your typical Christmas colours or patterns but I really liked how the design of the paper imitated a ribbon. So, I added a piece of Basic Gray satin ribbon and a big bow just above the hanging ribbon on the DSP.

Next came the focal point:

On a piece of Glossy cardstock, I first stamped the trees from Lovely as a Tree in Versamark. I brayered over with Going Gray and sponged the edges with Basic Gray. Then I stamped Dasher in Black Craft Ink and embossed with Heat and Stick Powder and then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds. Next, I added snow drifts with Whisper White cardstock.

To finish it off, I added a piece of Styled Silver HodgePodge Hardware and a piece of Basic Gray cardstock on which I stamped a snowflake from Snow Swirled and the word “peace” from All Holidays.

Thanks for stopping by today and for all of your kind comments!

Fun with Felt and Fabric

I don’t sew (ask my mom) but I love to make projects with felt and fabric. So, when I got my Sizzix I knew I’d found a way to make projects without sewing!

I have an 8 year old daughter who loves Webkinz and she loves to dress them up and play pretend. So, when I was preparing for my Open House (today!) I wanted to try out using felt in my Sizzix.

I used the scallop envelope die and cut out some black felt. I think I mentioned before that I don’t sew, so I used sticky strip to keep it all together. The flap is held down with some sticky backed velcro. I used the birds and blooms Sizzlet and cut out some gingham fabric and added a Rhinestone brad for an accent. I punched holes in the back of the purse with my Crop-A-Dile and tied in some Eggplant grosgrain.

This purse is super cute and my daughter has asked for an “exclusive” line for her stuffies. A new business venture for me? I don’t think so…..

Check back tomorrow for photos of my big outdoor New Catalogue Open House!

Fun with the Sizzix

I needed to put together a quick and simple wedding congratulations card and had the previously cut out a small scalloped envelope in Kiwi Kiss textured cardstock using my Sizzix. I really wanted to use this on a project so this was just the occasion.

The card base is Almost Amethyst and is layered with some vellum paper. I added rub ons from the Cherished Rub Ons in two of the corners and a strip of Not Quite Navy along the centre (I added two silver brads to this for good measure).

Inside the envelope is a little note card with “together” from Define Your Life and “Tt” from Defining Alphabet. I tied some white taffeta ribbon around the envelope and added a silver ribbon slide.

Lastly, I added “congratulations” from Hugs and Wishes.

Really quick and simple and I’m loving this colour combo!
